Welcome to Ian
Whitehead’s Southwest Photography
Workshops
For me, photography is both a
journey and an experience,
where light, land, camera and photographer, connect as one.
I’m
based in beautiful Sedona, Arizona surrounded by some of the most
photogenic locations in the world. I’ve spent the last 20 years
exploring, photographing and conducting photo workshops around Sedona,
Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, Hunt’s Mesa and the
countless other special places in this stunning area of the country.
This experience has allowed me to learn not only where and what to
photograph, but also the specific times of year and even times of day
that can make all the difference in the quality of your photography.
Location
is only part of the process in creating a truly special photograph
though. It’s about the creative process – learning to see as an artist
and then translate the vision in your mind’s eye to your photograph.
Regardless of whether you shoot digital, film, small or large format
(all of which I teach), that creative process is what will take your
photography to a higher level.
In
order to give you the personalized attention you deserve, I offer two
options for my workshops: either a small, friendly and fun group at
specific times of the year, or a fully customized one on one custom
photo workshop. See the details of each on my Workshops page. Both
types will offer you artistic, creative, technical and fun
instruction.
Whether
you're a beginner just getting started in photography, an
experienced professional or advanced amateur, I'll always adapt to your
level and style - I want you to be comfortable and excited about the
workshop! And if you’d like to explore other locations or
specific types of photography, just contact me and we’ll come up with a
customized plan.
My
experience traveling and photographing the locations I feature can be
seen in my published works in magazines such as Arizona Highways, on my
main site,
and in fine art galleries throughout the Southwest. I’m committed to
passing those same skills on to you. If you’re looking for a photo
workshop that will not only expand your creative vision, technical
skills and artistic sense – but be fun as well – you’ve come to the
right place!
Thank you for a great
photography workshop, my husband said he had one of the best times of
his life!. - Gloria, California |
